WELCOME TO MY WEBPAGE.
HERE YOU CAN LEARN HOW TO CREATE AND PUBLISH YOUR OWN E-BOOK
So, assuming you have written your book and now you want to create an e-book from a Word.docx file:
Download Calibre for free. This is a reader as well as a useful platform to convert e-books from one file format into another. Here is the link www.calibre-ebook.com
Using Calbre you can convert your .docx file: simply click the icon "Convert books" and set the output format to EPUB, or whatever format you choose, and click OK. Calibre will convert a copy to your selected format.
Usually your "Calibre Library" folder can be found on your C drive in the Documents and Settings folder.

I published on Kindle Direct Publishing (Amazon)

Your cover is very important: save it as a .jpg, I used a 5x8 inch .jpg with a high pixel to square inch ratio.
For adding images in the book, you can open the Edit E-book feature and use the "Insert" option. Then to save you reconvert your file. To add a Table of Contents, scroll down. |
CREATE A COVER FOR your book |
ADD A TABLE OF CONTENTS (LINKS TO PLACES IN YOUR E-BOOK)
For your .epub file you should use Calibre which is an easy process.
Open your .docx file with Calbre, click "convert" choose the output format as EPUB. On your left you will see a "Table of Contents" icon. Click on that and select "Level 1 TOC" and click on the Magic Wand icon. Then from the drop down list select h2 then click OK.
You should now have an .epub file with a Table of Contents.
WHAT IS YOUR BOOK ABOUT?
If you want to have any success publishing you should have a good description of your book. Something that you would expect to read on the back cover. When you publish you will be expected to provide this so potential buyers can know what your book is about.
what is DRM ?
Digital Rights Managements encrypts your e-book to stop unauthorized use, printing and/or copying. Basically it protects the author and retailer.
However, there may be times when you would want to make your book freely downloadable or readable on as many reading devices as possible.
For example, you have an e-book in .prc format that you have read on your Kindle reader. You lend the book ( a .prc file) to your friend but he owns a different make of reader. So he would have to convert the file in order to read it. In that case DRM would prevent file conversion.

and finally publish !
I chose Createspace.com to publish my paperback and Kindle Direct Publishing for my Digitally Rights Managed e-book. Kindle will supply an ISBN number to you for free. In fact, with Kindle the complete publishing process for an e-book is FREE!
(You may opt for other on-line stores to retail your book but in some cases you would have to purchase your own ISBN number). You may want to check out Google Books. They will need your EPUB and PDF files and you can also opt for DRM when you upload your book.
Kindle retails my novel "Rough Diamonds" in the USA and in Europe and of course I earn royalties on sales. Here is a link to my novel on Kindle http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004PLNO1W
For marketing your book outside the USA and Europe contact your local on-line retail site or on-line bookstore.
